AIRIE.Foundation Announces The Kampong as an ENVIRONMENTS EVERYWHERE Residency Collaborator

October 30, 2026

Honoring twenty-five years of art, environment, and imagination through new possibilities for artistic inquiry.

COCONUT GROVE, FL — October 30, 2026 — AIRIE.Foundation welcomes  The National Tropical Botanical Garden - The Kampong as a collaborator in Environments Everywhere, a residency initiative supporting artists across distinct ecological regions, cultural landscapes, and environmental communities. Building on The Kampong’s history of welcoming artists, the partnership offers Foundation Fellows space for research, reflection, and artistic discovery within a living botanical landscape.

Located along Biscayne Bay in Miami’s Coconut Grove, The Kampong holds more than a century of botanical history. Acquired by plant explorer David Fairchild in 1916, the property grew into a landscape of tropical plants whose stories connect cultures and places around the world. Today, as a garden of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, it welcomes scientists, educators, and artists into an environment shaped by exploration and stewardship.

Through the residency, Foundation Fellows will engage with this living heritage, bringing their individual creative practices and questions to the garden. With space to observe, research, and reflect, artists can explore how plants connect people and places, allowing their surroundings to inform new perspectives on ecology, cultural memory, and care.

This spirit of inquiry reflects the purpose of Environments Everywhere. As AIRIE.Foundation celebrates its 25th Anniversary season, the initiative carries forward its commitment to creating an affirming space filled with hope, curiosity, and care. It opens new opportunities for artistic exploration across distinct landscapes and communities while sustaining a deep connection to South Florida.

The foundation continues to fund Fellows, partner on programming and convenings, and connect its community of more than 225 alumni. The partnership with The Kampong extends this work, supporting diverse narratives and inviting artists and audiences to deepen their relationships with the environments they inhabit.
